The pandemic has posed an existential threat to many small businesses and, while the impact is widespread, women have been hit disproportionately hard, both as business owners and caretakers. Women’s jobs are 1.8 times more vulnerable than men’s, creating a ‘shecession’ that has forced many women out of the workplace. This challenge, combined with the rapid acceleration of digital commerce experiences across the U.S. and beyond, has left many women small businesses owners struggling to stay afloat. During this session, we will learn how technology is playing a key role in helping small businesses rebuild and recover, and how businesses are stepping up to support women in their communities.

Pay parity is a critical driver of equality — and as the world grapples with a pandemic that threatens to undo decades of progress, it has never been more important for organizations to take a stand for equality. In this fireside chat, hear from an organization who is leading the charge in that area: Shelley Zalis sits down with Sara Wechter for a conversation about Citi’s approach to pay parity, the business case for equality, and why The Female Quotient collaborated with Citi to create the new Advancing Equality Calculator.
Today’s workforce is navigating treacherous times, struggling to keep careers on track, children educated, friends at a distance, and rent in the bank. The topic of mental health that was once taboo has become a critical business issue, projected to cost the global economy $16 trillion by the end of the decade. The strain on the mental health of the universal workforce requires thoughtful leaders to apply artful levels of IQ and EQ — often from a mandated distance — to preserve productivity, manage epic amounts of change, and help people stay healthy. Informed by a recent study, “The Human Impact of Business Transformation,” we will have a frank and vivid conversation on empathy, transparency, and the importance of prioritizing and destigmatizing mental health in the workplace.
